Gifts and Treasures

December 11, 2018
Dear Friend,

As we ring in the new year, it’s a good time to both reflect on the last twelve months and look forward to the next twelve.

When you examine your life, where are your values?  What is important to you?  Jesus instructed a very wealthy young man to let go of his possessions and to follow him, that is, Jesus.  (Matthew19:16)  The story closes with a very sad young man walking away, unable to let go of things.  Instead, he kept his things and let go of people.  In the end, his treasure was worthless.

Treasures come in all shapes and sizes.  What are your treasures?  Will you share?

For the servants who received talents to use while the master of the house was away and returned the treasure to the master with earnings equal to the trust, the master gave them the treasure back with these words: (Matthew 25:21) “His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!  You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things.  Come and share your master’s happiness!"   Both the original trust and the earnings were returned to the servant.

As 2018 closes with its holidays, remember the gifts and treasures you have received and those you have shared.  Which was more a joyous event…receiving or giving?  May you find in this holiday season, the joy of the greatest treasure of all time, the coming of Jesus into the center of humanity and into our lives.

Thank you for praying and supporting us at WMA and happy new year. May the coming year be bright for you and your loved ones.
