Jesus Saves
February 8, 2019
I grew up a roman catholic with religious grandparents who prayed for hours daily. God has always touched me from time to time, and no one could ever tell me that God did not exist, but I did not have a daily relationship with the Lord Jesus. I have resided in many continents in my life including Asia, Middle East, Europe (Cyprus) and the United States.
It was not until 1996 (I was 26 years old) when Jesus started to reach out to me and called me exclusively for Him (Jeremiah 1:5). On September 26, 1996, as I was running a 5K race, I still clearly remember hearing the voice of Jesus calling me to surrender ALL OF ME to HIM. As I was close to finishing the race, there were a few unexplainable circumstances that happened which validated that Jesus was ready for me to accept the calling He had for me. The events included finding myself in a ditch next to some water crying out to God only to see a Brother in Christ passing by that led me through the prayer of salvation. It was then that I spent two years studying the Bible through Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) that led me to full repentance, finding a spirit-filled church, and getting baptized publicly.
Once I was saved, I could not understand why no one was explicitly dedicating their lives to tell others about Jesus, and it was then I realized my calling as a missionary to serve Him (Isaiah 6:8). It was then when I quit my high paying job and left for seminary schools to pursue a bachelor’s in Biblical studies at Moody Bible Institute (2 Timothy 2:15).
Fast forward another 22 years, I find myself a dropout seminary student that is happily married with two teenage boys while close to graduating my Doctor of Management in Leadership within Information Technology but still preparing and practicing the calling and lifestyle Jesus has for us. I currently attend East Side Trinity Gospel Tabernacle where I participate as the Mission Coordinator. My passion and goal are to transition into full-time missions within the next few years as I transition out of the cooperate America work-life and continue leveraging my God-given talents to support God’s people.
I know the Lord is not slow in keeping his promise like some people think (2 Peter 3:9) and today is the day to be 100% dedicated and dependent on Jesus in everything we do, lest He does not recognize us!
