Zero: Between Old and New

July 27, 2019
"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." (2 Corinthians 5:17).

God is the God of transformations. This quality is one of his best characteristics. As we are his children, he wants to see changes in our lives. God wants us to promote from one stage to another. We, as a human being, sometimes do not love transformations. We do not feel comfortable to leave our comfort zone. Sometimes we like to stay where we are. We enjoy what we are and what we do. But God's plan for us always is to promote us in his glory for his glory.

There are "Zero" points between the old and new things. That Zero stage is tough to bear. That's where God tests our faith. This is the time of tests. That is where we make testimony out of this test, or we fall. In today's blog, we are going to meditate about the Zero stage between old and new things. In the Bible, we see many instances of this Zero stage. Let us examine a few examples from the Word of God.

Abraham was living a prosperous life in Ur. He was rich. He was with his beautiful family and relatives. He had a good business. Then God called him to leave his family, business, his country, and go somewhere else. "Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee."- Genesis 12:1. Abraham had to leave all his old things and come into the Zero before his new blessings. Abraham accepted the call from God and left his country and went to Canaan. He tested him in many ways. God promised him to give a nation but gave him a son in the age of one hundred. Then God ordered him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham moved from place to place to live. He did not own his land and sojourned in a foreign country. He suffered a lot in this Zero stage. Then God blessed him a lot.

Job was one of the wealthiest people of his time.  He was enjoying the richness of life with his beautiful family.  Because of his success, people around him admired and respected his accomplishments. Then God decided to take him in another stage. And as usual, Job also had to go through this Zero stage. He lost all his wealth. He lost his children. His wife and friends turned against him. He got sick. This Zero stage was too much for him that even he desired to die. But he never removed his faith from God and proved himself before God. And in his new life, he received everything again, not in the same portion but a double portion.

Many more examples are in the Bible. Old things will be gone, new beginnings will come, but before this "Zero" stage is there. You may not see any future. You may see only darkness before you. Uncertainties will be before you. But this is the time of testing that will turn into your testimony. Keeping and preserving faith in this Zero stage is very important. The Apostle Paul says, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:" (2 Timothy 4:7). Fighting a good fight, keeping the faith is very important in this stage. Let us finish this Zero stage's race before receiving this new glory. Amen.
