20/20 Vision in 2020

"The burden of the valley of vision..." Isaiah 21:2
As we immerse ourselves into another leap year, I do not believe 2020, and its reference to eyesight is a coincidence. Visual acuity examines the focus, health, and function of the eye, along with the sensitivity of the brain. Having 20/20 eyesight means you can spatially recognize specific shapes at a distance of 20 feet that a person with "normal" vision would also recognize. The first number represents your distance to the shapes, while the bottom number represents the distance a person with normal vision would need to acknowledge those same shapes.
"And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking." Mark 8:24
This year is an opportunity to refocus our spiritual sight. Christians should examine the focus, health, and function of our spiritual lives. We should reflect upon our sensitivity to God's Spirit and will for our lives. Like the blind man Christ healed in Mark 8:24, we may be able to see, but do we see clearly with proper focus and function? If we are to experience the power of God's Spirit, we need to make sure we have a healthy spiritual vision.
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions; And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit." Joel 2:28-29
God is calling us to a higher calling and power. He is ready to move in a mightier way than we have ever experienced. The spiritual foundation we lay this year will determine our effectiveness for the next 5-10 years. Having a proper vision for tomorrow will be essential as we prepare for the outpouring of God's Spirit. It is time for 20/20 spiritual vision in 2020!
